Leo Group ǁ Fundraising and Charitable Donations

With social responsibility and ethical practice at the very top of Leo Group's agenda, it is unsurprising that the leading waste management and recycling company also participates in charity fundraising events and makes frequent donations to various charities.

LeoGroup's continuing commitment to philanthropy has resulted in them accumulating the incredible sum of £125,000 for charity in just one year.

This generosity is typified by Leo Group's community fund, which supports a number of eminently worthy causes in Leo Group's home county of Yorkshire. But Leo Group are also delighted to donate to charities from across the whole of the UK, demonstrating their genuine concern for the disadvantaged and disenfranchised no matter where they are found.

Leo Group's chosen charities include exciting projects to inspire children and young adults through sports, education, culture and the environment.

Other foundations such as Sue Ryder at Manorlands Hospice and Action for Children have been allocated donations by Leo Group to help them provide grief and bereavement counselling and compassionate care.

Marathons and Movember

Fundraising is definitely a team effort for Leo Group, and employees from different areas of the organisation have come together to try to make real a difference to peoples' lives.  Moreover, the Managing Director of Leo Group, Danny Sswrij, has taken the lead in promoting the firm's charity work, pro-actively engaging in fundraising activities himself as a way of giving of something back to society.

The staff at Leo Group are always looking for new and novel ways of raising cash for charity, which range from challenging tests of endurance like the Leeds Jane Tomlinson 10k run to the more irreverent Movember (cultivating the much-maligned moustache for the entire month of November!).

Sponsoring Olympic Medal Triumphs

In addition to donating to charity in the traditional way - and enjoying the more unorthodox fundraising experiences like Movember - Leo Group were also proud sponsors of the Howarth Riding for the Disabled Group, who excelled at this years' Special Olympic Games. The team of riders achieved overwhelming success at the Games, winning a total of 9 medals including 4 golds.  Leo Group would like to congratulate the Howarth Riding for the Disabled Group for Olympic glory following all their hard work.

Leo Group ǁ Animal By-Product Solutions

Leo Group have three decades of experience and expertise in providing high quality and high efficacy solutions in waste management and the processing of potentially useful animal by-products.

As they continuously refine and improve their methods, Leo Group can offer an increasingly versatile, diverse service for a variety of industries. Subsequently, Leo Group now specialise in a number of areas, such as processed animal proteins, pet food production, purified fats and oils, rendering, and the collection of fallen stock.

Processed Animal Proteins – Feeds And Fertilisers

Leo Group derive high quality animal feeds and fertilisers from processed poultry, meat, bone meal, blood and even feathers. Animal by-products which would otherwise be wasted are treated and changed into a high-protein meal. This meal can then be used to create highly digestible and nutritious pet foods, or other feeds for various animals.

Leo Group's efficient treatment, hydrolisation and drying processes transform otherwise useless waste blood, feathers and bone into nitrogen-rich fertilisers for the agricultural and horticultural domains.

With offices and sites across the UK and Ireland, Leo Group are able to significantly enhance the value of animal slaughtering and meat industries, by utilising by-products which previously would have simply been disposed of. Leo Group remove these by-products from the abattoir and use the latest technology to convert them into quality pet food ingredients. Leo Group then blend and freeze the resulting mixtures for distribution to some of Europe's largest pet food suppliers.

Rendering And Purified Fats

Leo Group produce valuable fats and oils by rendering animal by-products in their specially equipped Omega Proteins plant.

The resulting materials can be burned as bio-fuels or used as ingredients for pet food or cosmetics.  In addition, purified poultry and tallow oil have applications in the oleo chemical industries.

Leo Group have invested heavily in the installation of industry-leading machinery to ensure that all rendering procedures are as environmentally friendly as possible.

Fallen Stock

As a member of The National Fallen Stock Scheme, Leo Group are available to more than seven thousand farms in the UK, and will assist with the prompt removal of fallen stock when requested.  Leo Group's agents aim to respond to calls within one working day, and can quickly locate and transport animal carcasses for rendering at one of their plants.

Products Available from the Leo Group

A number of different products are available from the Leo Group, a series of companies dedicated to waste management and full utilisation of animal by-products. They leverage top of the line technology for the purpose of producing a wide variety of goods suitable for a number of different industries. One example is poultry meal. This product is formulated from poultry by-products that are processed into a high protein meal that is incorporated into pet food and mink feed. It is available in a variety of specifications and has a good rating for digestibility, meaning that it is a great product for use by the pet food industry.

Meat and bonemeal is another product produced by the Leo Group. It is obtained by processing by-products from mammalian animals, and is typically used in animal feed as an additive. The Leo Group produces two types: a “standard” meat and bonemeal and one that is categorised as “beef” meat and bonemeal. This product is also useful in mink feed or as part of a fertilizer mixture.

Another fertilizer product the Leo Group produces is blood meal. It has useful applications in pet food, fish feed, and mink feed as well. However, this product is particularly good as a fertilizer because it has high levels of nitrogen content. This product comes as an air-dried powder and is extracted from mammalian species and poultry that Leo Group obtains from slaughterhouses.

Both lamb and pork meal come from facilities operated by Leo Group, and they are popular additions to dog food and other types of pet food. Feather meal is another popular ingredient for pet food, as it is a high quality by-product that is loaded with protein. It is also useful as an ingredient for fertiliser. All of these products can be ordered from the Leo Group for use in a number of different final goods, and Leo Group produces each product’s full specifications when requested by current and potential customers. The products are generated using processing methods that are environmentally friendly and safe, and Leo Group constantly updates their machinery to ensure that only top of the line equipment is being used at each of its facilities.
